:David this was more than likely a condition you had when you were younger and did not have the normal problems associated with it. I was allowed into the army at the age of 18 in 1990. I started developing problems with Perthes Disease again in 1994. I had been diagnosed with it in 1978. After treatment then everything was fine until 1994. I played sports in high school and everything. Today at the age 0f 32 I am having my hip replaced. I was medically discharged from the service for the condition in 1994. I can tell you that the more you continue to run PT and do road marches the worse it will get. It is almost not heard of for someone with the condition to have it replaced at the age of 32, but you really need to listen to your body so you do not end up in a similiar situation as I did. I know how it is to want to retire from the service and to serve your country, but trust me the most compensation you may see when you get out is about 10% if you pursue that means for disability compensation. If you have anymore questions e-mail me I would be more than happy to talk to you about the disease or the discharge from the service process. It really is not that hard or bad.
Brad

I am a 24 y/o SPC in the US Army. I was diagnosed in Iraq, after a running injury. I'm trying to find someone that was a late diagnosis like me. I'm trying to find out if I should remain a Soldier, or call it a day. Someone please contact me.

: Thanks,
: SPC David E. Hines
