I have taken calls from older perthes chaps in the last few years and certainly it will depend on how severe your perthes was and how you are affected by it now.
One of the chaps joined the RAF and you have to be pretty fit to join the forces but he did and is fine...
Another chap got into the Army, and managed ok but after a few years carrying all the kit took its toll on his joint and he had to go to a desk job.
