hi tara,
my name is brenda, and my son ross also has perthes, he is 6 years old and we live in scotland, hope you dont mind me contacting you but it sounds like you have had a rough time!! i got you e-mail form a message board!!
my son was diagnosed in february this year although he had symptoms since september last year it didnt show in x-ray till feb ( what a nightmare that was) we thought ross was acting it!!! i feel terrible now!!!!! we had a week in hospital in march when ross couldnt move his leg ( scary) and then was issued with crutches before we got discharged, we are still using the crutches but we also have a wheelchair for distance, and school!!!
How have leonas school been with the perthes?? is she on restricted activities?? we have been lucky in the respect that i got this computer way last year, but like you i wouldnt have had a clue!!! our doc didnt really tell us much, but thanks to the internet i was pretty sure that ross had perthes, i typed in "limping child" and all i kept getting was perthes, so i wasnt too shocked that he had it!!!
i hope leona is ok?? ross too has been getting worse recently, i blame the cold weather ( we are from Scotland). We were at the Royal hospital for sick kids in glasgow last week, they are brill!!! but before that we attended our local hospital who couldnt wait to get you out of the door, thats why i asked for a refferal, he was a good doc but no manner and i think with kids you really need a doc who can explain to the kids whats going on!!!
sorry for going on a bit, where are you form??? we live near glasgow.
sheila is fantastic i e-mail her often,
feel free to e-mail me anytime
take care
