Medial Soft-Tissue Release and Petrie Casting for Perthes Disease
Approximately 50 children with advanced Perthes Disease have been treated via an established protocol that includes medial soft-tissue release and hip capsulotomy followed by Petrie (broom-stick) casting. This treatment approach is felt to help avoid previously encountered problems with stiffness and deformed bony anatomy. Clinical and radiographic data are being collected and analyzed at this time.
